AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF SPORTS

1. To develop physical fitness by maintaining and increasing such components as speed Flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, aerobic capacity and anaerobic capacity.
2. Talent scouting at micro level & nurturing talent towards excellence.
3. Training & international exposure.
4. To produce coaches and physical education of high caliber in different disciplines of sports to broad base sports.
5. To provide the opportunity to be inventive and creative in sporting activities.
6. To develop an appreciation of the concept of fair play, honest competition and good sportsmanship.
7. To develop the capacity to maintain in the sports and to persevere in order to achieve success.
8. To prepare each students to be able to participate fully in competitive, recreational and leisure opportunities offered the school environment.
9. To inculcate leadership skills and foster qualities of co- operation, tolerance, consideration, trust and responsibility when competed with group and team problem solving tasks.
10. To develop self esteem and self confidence through positive sporting experiences.

11. In keeping fit and away from the bad habits. They orient him towards goal accomplishment and provide opportunity to travel / visit many places.
12. To enrich the person’s general knowledge.
13. To teach him team work.

14. To help in overall development.

Understanding the great importance of sports and physical activates JSS has always given all the support and encouragement to sports and physical activities. Special case is made to keep the sports activities alive always Right from the beginning in1944 the veteran educationist and Bhishm Awardee late Sri. K G Nadgir took the headship of the sports department. The efficient physical educationists such as Sir. M M Londe, Sir. C M Dharwadkar , Sir. S.S patil, Sir. Mohan siddhanti,sir Parpetgar and Sri. K S Bhimannvar, Sri. J.R. Kundagol co-operated him in due course chronologically. All of them have put heart and soul to held the glory of the department at the peak level.

In 2012, JSS Banashankari Arts, Commerce and S.K. Gubbi Science college transferred all the unaided course like BBA, BCA and so on to the newly established JSS SMI UG & PG studies. Sri. J R Kundgol has been serving as Physical Education Director from 2006 to 2011 after the bifurcation of the institutions till the year Shri. Shravankumar Yogi has been serving as the Physical Education Director till date and Sri. Ganesh Naik appointed as an Athletic Coach in 2016.

OBJECTIVES

Dear lord in the battle that goes on through life.
I ask but a field that is fair.
A chance that is equal with all in the life.
The courage to do and dare
And if I should win let it be by the code,
With my faith and my honor held high,
And if I should lose let me stand by the road,
And cheer as the winners go by.
Lord, teach me to conquer, if I can,
Having shown my worth in the fair,
But if I should lose let me lose like a Man, and not like a coward, I prey
Let me say “there they ride “on whom honor’s bestowed,
Since they played the game better than I,
Let me stand, with a smile, by the side of the road,
And cheer as the winners go by
