Course Overview

The govt of Karnataka and the Karnatak University Dharwad permitted, Janata Sikshana Samiti’s Bananashankari Arts, commerce and S K gubbi Science College to start Bachelor of Business Administration course. Realizing the importance of the course and its benefits to students in career development the Management of JSS decided to launch the course and started the course in the academic year 1996-97. The college with all the necessary infrastructure required for the course started this 3-year career-oriented degree course. In the year 2012, the course was transferred to the new college of the same J.S.S i.e. JSS Shri Manjunatheshwara Institute of UG and PG studies, Dharwad. This college has all the unaided courses of JSS and BBA is also one among them.


Career Prospectives for BBA Graduates

Education in BBA or Management education opens varied avenues for employment. It facilitates employment in Banking, corporate/industrial sector, agriculture, govt. administration/public sector, insurance, transportation, public relation and communication and other nation building professions. It provides opportunities to work in public/govt sector, semi-govt sector, private sector, joint ventures, co-operative sector, MNCs and also in Foreign countries. This course also supports self employment i.e. Entrepreneurship Development.


The phenomenal growth in industrial sector in rural and urban area in the country demands large number of Business Administration Graduates or competent managers. This needs competent managers with comprehensive knowledge of many functions of management. BBA course at JSS SMI is offering quality education to students enabling them to serve the nation as efficient management persons or Businessmen.


Students of BBA are exposed to functional knowledge of Human Resource Management, Marketing Management Accounts and Financial Management, computers,(C and C++ programming),system management,e-commerrce,marketing research, stock market operations, advertisements management and financial services functions and many others.


The course is also designed to facilitate, self-employment. It imparts he necessary knowledge and skills for entrepreneurship development and small business management.


Course curriculum includes co-curricular activities such as inplant training, projects with industrial/business organization, role plays, class presentation, by students like seminars, group discussions, workshops. This gives some exposure to business environment and improves their soft skills.


After BBA, they are eligible for MBA, MCA, M.Com, CA, CS, ICWA, M.com (CS),LLB and M.Sc.They can also pursue MA, M.Com, MBA and other courses through Distance education, through IGNOU. BBA graduates are employed as management trainees, officers and executives/administrators in public sector/govt sector, joint ventures, private sector, co-operative sector, NC s and abroad. This course provides strong base to join nationalized banks, private and co-operative banks. This also provides necessary inputs to prepare for competitive exams of SSC, KPSC and UPSC and many other courses. Soft skill development helps in clearing ILTS, TOFEL and other eligibility criteria to get visa abroad.
